Paris Aerial — Path-Traced 3D City Map · Framed Matte Poster
Every building in this map is real. The footprints come from IGN's BD TOPO®, with every roof height re-measured from IGN's LiDAR HD survey, standing on the RGE ALTI national terrain model. The light is not a filter: the whole city was path traced, the same technique film studios use, with the shadows computed ray by ray from a sun standing 60° above the horizon.
Here the same computed light falls on the real city — IGN's 20 cm BD ORTHO HR draped over the 3D model. The zinc roofs of the Haussmann blocks go silver, the Tuileries and the Luxembourg go green, the Seine carries its real colour, and the path-traced shadows drop into the courtyards and boulevards between them. Every block casts the shadow its true height earns.
Printed on museum-quality matte paper in an Ayous wood frame.
