Zurich: 3D City Aerial Map
Every building in this map is real. The roofs come from the City of Zurich's own LoD2 model (GeoZ), standing on swisstopo's swissALTI3D terrain. The light is not a filter: the whole city was path traced, the same technique film studios use, with the shadows computed ray by ray from a sun standing 60° above the horizon.
Here the same computed light falls on the real city — swisstopo's SWISSIMAGE orthophoto draped over the 3D model. Lake Zürich holds its real blue at the foot of the disc, the wooded slopes above the city go green, the Altstadt roofs come through warm, and the path-traced shadows drop into the streets climbing away from the water. Every block casts the shadow its true height earns.
